The herbs used in the formulation of Tetda have been prescribed by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners for generations. These herbs possess many medicinal properties which have yet to be discovered by Western Medicine; modern medical research has only begun to elucidate some of the medicinal properties of TCM herbs. Recent research has shown that the herbs used in Tetda possess compounds which have the following properties:
- They are anti-inflammatory; these compounds act to inhibit the migration of white blood cells thereby inhibiting local build-up of white blood cell metabolites which can produce pain and swelling of the affected area.
- They have analgesic properties; these compounds act directly to reduce pain.
